Holy Vlog Batman!

I've been wanting to start a vlog for a while but decided not to until I was accepted. Well now that that has happened, here is the Great Big Beautiful College Program Vlog!

Day 30

Favorite statue, fountain, or eye candy in the parks:

Partners:

This is a great statue that I've always looked forward to seeing and getting my picture with on each trip. The quote at the base of the statue is also really cool. Disney really is really one of the few places where kids and adults can have fun together. At other parks that I've been to like Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Busch Gardens, my parents and I have not enjoyed doing the same things and my sister and I ended up going on our own for a majority of the day. At Disney my entire family can do 99% of the attractions together and have a great time.

Well this completes the 30 Day Challenge. I missed several days but overall I think I did pretty well. Periodic reminders from some certainly helped. Now that this is over,  I'll be updating much less frequently. As things come up regarding the program, I'll put something on here. Until then, have a great big beautiful tomorrow.

Day 29

Favorite Disney love song:

Beauty and the Beast:

So, I'm actually cheating for today. The actual question for today was really dumb so I'm stealing a question from another challenge for today.
Anyway, my favorite love song is Beauty and the Beast. It's the best song from one of the best movies ever made. I also really like that it isn't sung by the main characters, it's a song about them, and you really can't beat Angela Lansbury singing a love song.

Day 28

Favorite Firework Show:

Illuminations:

This show has been my favorite for a long time. Everything about it is great; the music, the fireworks, all the other effects, etc. I can sing every second of the show and can play a lot of it on my horn too. Watching this show is one of the first things I want to do once I can get into the parks on the CP. There isn't much better than getting some dessert and then watching it from Italy. This show was also adapted into one of my favorite drum corps shows. In 2000, The Cadets used the music in their show We Are the Future and won a World Championship. I cannot watch or listen to either version of this show enough, it is really incredible.

Day 27

Favorite Walt Disney World Breakfast:

Mickey Waffles:

This is kind of difficult to answer as I have never stayed on property and have never eaten breakfast in the parks. However, all the hotels I have stayed at on my trips have had Mickey waffles available. I'm not the biggest fan of waffles and I never eat them at home, but I love getting to eat them before a day in the parks. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't have these on at least one day of my trip.

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Day 26

Favorite Souvenir:

Stuffed Mickey Mouse:

This was the first thing I bought on my first trip to Disney. It was really the only thing I wanted to get on that first trip. Even though Mickey isn't my favorite character, this souvenir still means the most to me. I also have a pretty cool Steamboat Willie snow globe that would be a close second.

Day 25 and Other Big News

Favorite activity outside of the park, but still on Disney property:

Downtown Disney:

I love spending the first night I'm in Orlando around Downtown Disney. The World of Disney store is a ton of fun and I can spend way too much time and money there. I love the Art of Disney Store and the restaurants are great.

In other news, I got a very special email today. Nine days ago I had my interview for the College Program. I was not expecting anything for at least another week, but today I found out I was accepted for Fall Advantage. My role is attractions as of now, but hopefully that will change after I go to the auditions for character performer. I've already accepted everything and will be checking in at Vista Way on May 18. I am insanely excited to get down there and start working. Now I'm just nervous for everyone else in the Skype/Facebook group. Hopefully everyone else gets their emails very soon so we all know for sure that we'll be together in Disney.

Day 24

Favorite Face Character:

Belle

I already talked about this is another post so I won't go into much detail again. I love Belle, she is one of my favorite characters. I meet her every chance I get in the parks. This was a short post.

Thursday, January 27, 2011

Day 23

What is the scariest Attraction:

Alien Encounter:

I don't are if I already have a post about this attraction and that it's not there anymore but this is one of the scariest things I've ever been on. It was a fantastically horrifying experience. Disney needs to bring this back. Younger kids are missing out on all the fun scares.

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Day 22

Favorite Parade:

Stars and Motor Cars

I remember really enjoying this parade when I saw it in 2002. I love all the different cars and thought it was a really cool way to do a parade. It was different than any of the other ones going on so it stood out in my mind. I've heard really great things about the parade during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party so maybe my opinion will change in time.

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Day 21

Favorite Character to Meet in the Parks:

Donald Duck and Belle

I'm cheating and putting two answers for this, but I don't care. These are by far my two favorite Disney characters. I didn't get to meet Donald on my first trip which was very disappointing, but I've seen him every time since. I've gotten to meet Belle on every trip, and on this last trip I met her multiple times. Every time I see these characters I turn into a little kid again. No matter what I'm on my way to, I will immediately stop and get in line to meet them. I can't wait to meet them again the next time I'm in the parks.

Monday, January 24, 2011

Day 20

Favorite Disney World Dessert

Creme Brulee:

This one is kind of hard for me to answer since I don't get dessert that often at dinner. I'm choosing the creme brulee from Les Chefs de France. I mentioned this in an earlier post but it's worth mentioning again. And to make this post a bit more exciting, as requested by someone, here you go: HOLY CRAP! You must try the creme brulee! It will make all your cares and troubles go away! EAT IT!!!!! It will be the most fantastic dinning experience you have every had, whether at Disney or anywhere!
Hopefully that made this slightly more exciting.

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Day 19

Least Favorite Attraction:

The Enchanted Tiki Room:

I've only been to this once and it was before the "Under New Management" refurb, so my attitude towards in may change in the future, but I really hated this damn attraction when I was 8. It was boring and annoying, I just wanted to leave the entire time. I hope things are different now.

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Day 18

Favorite attraction you wish they'd bring back:

Alien Encounter:

This attraction was amazing. I was only able to do it once sadly. The first time I went to Disney World I decided it might be too scary, the second time I went I did it, and it had closed on my last trip.
This attraction was terrifying. The effects were fantastic and made it really feel like an alien had escaped and might get somebody in the audience. When I walked out afterward I did not have a desire to go back on it for a very long time. I really wish I could go back and be scared 100 times more now that it's gone.
I think what made it so great was that I was not expecting it to be as intense as it was. Everything else at Disney is so family-friendly and fun. This completely threw that out the window. There are still some great thrill rides at Disney like Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but there is nothing that is as scary in the same way that Alien Encounter was. I wish it could come back.

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Day 17

Favorite restaurant:

Les Chefs de France

This place is just fantastic. Good food, great wine, wonderful creme brulee. I could eat at this place all the time. I've only been there once but I plan on making several trips once I'm (hopefully) in Orlando.

In other news, applications for the college program came out yesterday. I applied as soon as I got up and passed the web interview. I had my phone interview this evening with Brandon. He was awesome and made the whole thing really easy. Overall, I think it went really well. Now the waiting game begins.
Right now I just hope everyone else has a great interview so that we can all be at Disney together. I can't wait until the acceptance letters start rolling in.

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Day 16

Favorite snack to grab in the parks:

Micky bar

It has been a tradition since the first time I went to have one of the Mickey ice cream bars and watch the afternoon parade. It's always a nice break in the middle of the day and the ice cream is delicious. It's one of the things I look forward to most on my Disney trips

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Day 15

Favorite Walt Disney World Resort:

Grand Floridian:

This is hard for me to answer since I've stayed off property every time I've gone. Based on everything I've seen, read, and heard I've always wanted to stay in the Grand Floridian more than any other resort. I love the style of the resort and think it's beautiful. Hopefully I can actually stay there some day.

Monday, January 17, 2011

Day 14

Favorite Animal Kingdom Attraction:

Kilimanjaro Safaris:

I don't remember everything about the ride very well since it's been so long, but I do remember enjoying it quite a lot. I definitely plan on spending a lot of time in the Animal Kingdom once I (hopefully) get into the CP just so I can remember everything and experience the stuff that wasn't there when I was.

Sunday, January 16, 2011

Favorite Animal Kingdom Area:

Africa

This one is pretty hard for me because I've only been to Animal Kingdom once 9 years ago and I barely remember it. So for my favorite area I'm just choosing the area that had a ride in it that I really enjoyed.

Friday, January 14, 2011

Day 12

Favorite Hollywood Studios Attraction:

Great Movie Ride

I absolutely love movies, so I absolutely love getting to ride through some of the most famous scenes in movie history. I think it's really cool that they turn the attraction into a show as well. It makes it a lot of fun.

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Day 11

Favorite Hollywood Studios Area:

Sunset Boulevard

This area has everything I love most about Studios. Fantasmic!, Beauty and the Beast Live, Tower of Terror, and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster are all in this one section. I definitely spend most of my day down this street. I love all the other attractions in the park but they aren't as concentrated into one area like they are down Sunset.

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Day 10

Favorite attraction in the worlds:

Maelstrom:

I had no idea this thing even existed the first time I went to Disney. I'm really glad I road it the second time I was there though because I really enjoy this attraction. There's nothing too spectacular or fancy about it, I just think it's fun. The best part is when the boat acts like it's going to go over the waterfall backwards. It isn't the best part because it's scary or thrilling, but because I got to watch my mom freak the hell out the first time we rode because she thought we were really going over like a backwards Splash Mountain.

Monday, January 10, 2011

Day 9

Favorite Attraction in Future World:

This is a really easy choice.

Spaceship Earth is definitely my favorite ride in Future World. I absolutely love Test Track and Mission Space, but Spaceship Earth will always be number one. As I mentioned in my post about the Carousel of Progress, I love history, so it makes sense that I would love a ride about the history of the human race. I love how this attraction covers a huge span of time as opposed to the Carousel which only covers the 20th century. Another thing I love about Spaceship Earth is the music. I think it is great that the style of the music is appropriate to the time period of each scene. It adds a lot to the attraction and it is just awesome when you get to the planetarium at the top.

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Day 8

Which is your favorite in Epcot, Future World or World Showcase:

Definitely World Showcase.

I have loved this part of the park from the first time I went. There is so much detail in every country, it's wonderful. I love the attractions in Norway, Canada, and American Adventure. World Showcase also has the best food anywhere. Biergarten and Les Chefs de France are amazing. I cannot wait to get to drink around the world.

Friday, January 7, 2011

Day 7

Favorite Attraction in Adventureland:

Jungle Cruise

This ride is just fantastic. I didn't even know what this ride was the first time I went to Disney and I didn't do it. Now I love it. The jokes have been said a million times but they never get old. I think being a skipper would be one of the best jobs at Disney.

Tagged

Ok, I was tagged by Catherine so here we go with my embarrassing moment.

This isn't too long of a story

When I was in first grade one day, we were all out at recess. We had baseball diamonds on our playground and a bunch of people were climbing the backstop. I decided to join in the fun. When I got to the point that I wanted to stop climbing I made the choice to jump off just like everyone else. I jumped off fine. The only problem was that I landed on my face, smashing my glasses into my head, and splitting my head open. I was pulled off the playground by an aid with blood running down my face and the aid kept telling my to stop crying. I was pretty pissed at her since I was clearly in a state that justified crying for a 6 year old. All the kids talked of this moment for literally all of elementary school.

So that's my moment,

I tag Katelyn McKenzie and Linda Kohlstock

Day 6

Favorite attraction in Frontierland:

As much as I enjoy Big Thunder, I have to go with Splash Mountain. I'm not a big fan of water rides generally but this one is great. The dark ride portion before the drop makes this ride really wonderful. It's not always at the top of my attractions priority list, but I always make time for it.

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Day 5

Favorite Attraction in Liberty Square:

I don't really like this question because there are only two attractions and they are very different. The Haunted Mansion is always a great ride and I make sure to ride it on every visit. The Hall of Presidents is a great show especially now that they have the Morgan Freeman narrated video. I've always enjoyed this attraction. While I love both of these attractions, I'm going to be different and say that the Hall of Presidents is my favorite Liberty Square attraction.

Day 4

Favorite Attraction in Fantasyland:

Peter Pan's Flight

This was my favorite ride the first time I went, and has never changed. The first time I think I liked it just because you get to fly over everything as opposed to go along a track like the other dark rides. I always have found it funny that I love this ride so much when I'm really not that big of a Peter Pan fan.

Monday, January 3, 2011

Day 3

Favorite Attraction in Tomorrowland

Read the name of my blog and take a wild guess.

The Carousel of Progress is my favorite attraction in Tomorrowland. I only thought it was ok the first time I went on it, but over time it grew on me and now I love it. I've always really enjoyed history so it's pretty cool to have an attraction dedicated to the history of the 20th century. Plus, the song is amazing.

Day 2

Favorite Land in the Magic Kingdom:

Fantasyland

Just like Magic Kingdom represents all of Disney World for me, Fantasyland is the first thing my mind goes to when I think of the Magic Kingdom. It has several of my favorite rides, the first ride I ever did at a Disney park, Dumbo, and it's gonna be even better when the expansion is done.

New Year and 30 Days

Happy New Year everyone. It's exciting to say that this is the year that I will graduate college and hopefully be moving to Orlando.
We have 19 days until applications come out and in order to make the time go by faster, I'm starting a 30 day challenge. So, here we go...

Disney 30 Day Challenge: Day 1

Favorite Walt Disney World Park

My favorite park is definitely Magic Kingdom. This is what Disney is for me. There is nothing better than walking down Main Street and seeing Cinderella's Castle for the first time. The park has several of my favorite rides (which I'll get to later in the challenge), and is always the first and last day I spend at Disney. I love the other parks, but Magic Kingdom will always be my favorite.
